🚨On 17 September, Avocats Sans Frontières France and 18 other civil society organisations in Greece issued a joint statement calling on the Greek government to immediately resume the payment of cash aid to asylum seekers.

➡️ In accordance with European and Greek legislation, asylum seekers are entitled to monthly financial assistance, but payments have been suspended for four months.

➡️ Since May, asylum seekers in Greece have no longer received this aid, depriving them of vital resources.

➡️ No official announcement has been made by the Department of Immigration and Asylum regarding this suspension, leaving asylum seekers uncertain as to whether payments will resume.

➡️ Given that this assistance programme is funded by the EU, we call on the European Commission to intervene to ensure that Greece makes payments correctly and enables asylum seekers to maintain a decent standard of living.
