Avocats Sans Frontières France recently organised a training course for Cameroonian lawyers as part of the PAGOC project (Project to support human rights-based prison governance in Cameroon), run in partnership with RECODH (Cameroonian Network of Human Rights Organisations) and RIDEV (Research Institute for Development).

Two training sessions were held in Yaoundé and Douala, bringing together 60 lawyers committed to improving the legal and human treatment of people deprived of their liberty.

These exchanges helped to strengthen the practical and legal skills of the participants in order to guarantee better protection of the rights of detainees, who are often vulnerable and faced with extremely precarious situations.

Through the PAGOC project, we are pursuing a specific objective: to put in place a participative and inclusive dynamic that mobilises all stakeholders in order to improve access to justice for the most vulnerable prisoners, their conditions of detention and to facilitate their professional reintegration.

Thank you to the trainers, participants and all the partners involved for their determination to advance the cause of human rights in Cameroon.

This project is supported by the European Union Delegation to Cameroon, the United States Embassy in Cameroon and the Barreau de Paris Endowment Fund.
